On 18/10/2013, the official magazine of the CPAs in Bulgaria published article of Anelia on beneficial owner in the context of withholding taxation.

Tax article of Anelia on the proposed changes in the taxation of interest and royalties within the EU is published in Tax Notes International issue from 07/10/2013.

After a complaint filed by Anelia to the EU Commission for non-compliance of Bulgarian law regarding the taxation of interest and royalty income within the EU, the Ministry of Finance proposed changes in the current regime.

As a result, we expect as of 1 Jan 2014 the qualifying EU investors to be able to apply the reduced 5% withholding tax rate on the above income in any moment before the elapse of the 2-year period of 25% holding (see Directive 2003/49).

On 09/09/2013, the first tax article of Ivan Filchev, a tax trainee in the law firm, will be published in Tax Notes International.

The article is analysis of the interest income taxation provided for in the Bulgarian double tax treaties.

Tax article of Anelia on the ECJ practice for the first half of 2013 will be published in the August issue of Accounting, Taxes and Law Magazine.

Tax article of Anelia on the ECJ practice on Bulgarian references for the period Apr – Jul 2013 will be published in the July and Aug issues of Bloomberg BNA.

The first part of tax article on the 2013 new invoicing rules will be published in the May issue of The Accounting, Taxes and Law Magazine.

The first part will cover: the applicable legislation in relation to invoicing with specific examples for supplies of goods and services as well as the requirements to the electronic invoices with some practical recommendations.

Article of Anelia on two ECJ documents (a ruling and an opinion) on Bulgarian VAT references issued in February and March 2013 will be published in the April issue of Bloomberg BNA Magazine.

The documents concern barter supplies and incidental supplies for VAT purposes.

On 18/03/2013, the first four articles of Anelia as a tax correspondent of Tax Analysts for Bulgaria were published in Tax Notes International.

Anelia has become the tax correspondent of Tax Analysts for Bulgaria.

Tax Analysts is the US based publisher of Tax Notes International (TNI), a weekly, English-language journal containing news and commentary about tax developments throughout the world, and Worldwide Tax Daily (WTD), which transmits international tax news and related documents on a daily basis.

She will take care of the daily and periodical tax updates with an international element.
